Vision One

by 84adam in music, videos

There was a time when all the shadows of these tall buildings,
Would throw their cape around each corner of their grassy feet,
And one by one, each new shade, would cover the green way back;
Allowing changes that we could not have foreseen.

Everybody let us kiss upon the world we created.
Let us rest our eyes up by the great machine as we wave goodbye.
Feel the evening breeze caress your smile, the cities are dying,
As we watch it falling to a modern state, a modern time.

Remember when we hear the distant sound of human life?
A zillion noises whip our eyes that travel through the sky,
And one by one, each little sound, has faded away with time,
Allowing changes that we could not have foreseen.

Everybody let us say goodbye to all our emotions.
Cause there’s nothing left to say that we’re humane when we’re left behind.
It’s too late to think that we can worship human emotions.
Cause we’ve already evolved into machines in our minds.

Absurd Goodness

by 84adam in home, music, quotes, videos

Kierkegaard once said:

Far from idleness being the root of all evil, it is rather the only true good.”

And so I ask:

  • What if god, in his holy idleness, created a muse?
  • And what if that muse inspired some guys to make a song?
  • And what if that song were so ridiculous that it became a viral youtube hit overnight?
  • And what if that song were embedded here, followed by more Kierkegaard?

I feel as if I were a piece in a game of chess, when my opponent says of it: That piece cannot be moved.”

What this means is that, that very chess piece has most likely been carved out of glazed donuts.

It belongs to the imperfection of everything human that man can only attain his desire by passing through its opposite.”

What this means is that, if you want to get serious, you have to pass through this video of wtf-worthy absurdity.

And Nothing Else Matters

by 84adam in home, music, prose, quotes, videos

“Live in the now, and never worry alone.” – Anne Nash

Whenever I read this quote I am reminded about how my time on Earth is limited. And, it is precisely *the truth of this statement* that propels me to thrive and connect with the world while I am still here.

This quote makes me think hard about what I am doing, what am I processing emotionally, and most importantly, how I can halve my burden and double my joy through connecting with others.

Worrying is best done with a friend. Our hearts, when aligned, allow for more joy. Our minds, when in tune, move with more grace. And our souls, when allied, spread love not just to our allies, but beyond our own boundaries, indiscriminately, to everyone.

So it is, with this in mind, that I offer this note: As a way of honoring those that *refuse* to leave us alone. Let us give thanks to our friends and loved-ones, those that help us to think, to thrive, and to live in the now.

So close, no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don’t just say
and nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

So close, no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don’t just say

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us, something new
Open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they say
never cared for games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
and I know

So close, no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No, nothing else matters

THE AVATAR/MONONOKE/RÖYKSOPP CONNECTION

Ever since watching Avatar I have been drawn back to Mononoke, the classic Miyazaki film about human greed versus the full force of nature. In Avatar, the Atokirina represent the planet’s life force; in Princess Mononoke, we have the Kodama (こだま 、反響音: echo). Both kinds of wood-sprites act as the eyes and ears of the forest, and sometimes as its messengers, as we see here with Jake Sully:

"We love Jake Sully! Don't kill him!" — Woodsprites

As you may have figured by following this site, I am a huge fan of Röyksopp. So when I found this little number below I was clickin’ like a kodama, just stoked, you know. What could be better than seeing the little gangsta sprites dashing through the forest to uber-chill electronica? Really. It was just *so easy*.

SUPPLEMENTAL WU-WEI LESSON FOR THE DAY

When beauty is abstracted
Then ugliness has been implied;
When good is abstracted
Then evil has been implied.

So alive and dead are abstracted from nature,
Difficult and easy abstracted from progress,
Long and short abstracted from contrast,
High and low abstracted from depth,
Song and speech abstracted from melody,
After and before abstracted from sequence.

The sage experiences without abstraction,
And accomplishes without action;
He accepts the ebb and flow of things,
Nurtures them, but does not own them,
And lives, but does not dwell.
